MY PROFILE

>I'm Angela ak Mut.I came from Sarawak and I'm Bidayuh lady. Now, I'm studying in UiTM Campus Bandaraya Melaka in Bachelor of Business Management major in Marketing. I'm the 2nd child among my siblings. I have an elderst and a youngest brothers. There are 5 peoples in my family. I've been choosing this marketing course because I want to learn the proper way to become a well-known entreprenuer in future.
Besides, I want to learn the real life about the reality world and gain more knowledges as a preparation to enter the job's markets.

>I've been choosing this topic because I want to tell everyone about my own ethnic culture which are very unique among the other cultures in Malaysia. Thus, everyone can be acknowledgable and have the opportunity to know and experienced more multiple -culture in country.

Bidayuh Traditional Dance

Due to the picture,it was shown the Bidayuh traditional dance in Sarawak.Most of the colour of the costume was red and black.They are wearing the red scarf on top of their head too.Moreover,the ladies on the picture were wearing the blouse with the long skirt and carrying the paddy- bin on their shoulders.

The name of this dance is "ODE KEBUN" which means let's go to the farm!Normally this type of dance was danced by the youngsters.This type of dance is part of their cultures.

In addition,the unique about the dance in the picture is the ladies are dancing by step and jump on the bamboos while the men are knocking the bamboos to make the 'clocking' sounds as it became the ryhme for the dance.

Based on my experience, I have watched and danced it before when I was in secondary level. It was so interesting for me till now.So,I suggest you to experience it by your ownself.......!!!!

In Bidayuh longhouse, there is a lot of traditional items, such as; gongs,earns,and ceramic jars that had been used by this ethnic.In these pictures,it had shown that the traditional gong which have been used by the Bidayuh for some occassional ceremony.

After the harvest,the Bidayuhs will remove the paddies from its shelll by using some of the traditional equipment.This can be shown in the picture of old lady below.

Bidayuh longhouse

All part of "Bidayuh " longhouse was made from from bamboos.In Bidayuh long house,we can foung a circule sructrue made fom bamboos wich are known as Baruk.It's function was as the congregation place for the Bidayuh worriors.The Baruk was filled with weapon,gong,wooden mask and other personal effects.

Beside there are also human skulls hung from the roof top and they were once the enemies killed by Bidayuh worriors.The internal in Bidayuh longhouse was quite similar to other longhouses.The floor in Bidayuh longhouse is always formed of strips split from large bamboos,so that each may be nearly flat and about tree inches wides,and these are firmly tied down with rattan.

The languages


"Bidayuh " ethnic in Sarawak generally said to be three main linguistic.The three main linguistic are ( Biatah,Bau-Jagoi,Bukar-Sadong).But some of the villager speak with thier own languages through the smaller difference vocabulary and intonation such as:
Lundu speak Jagoi,Slako and Lara; Bratak,Singai,Krokong and Jagoi speak Singai-Jagoi; Penrissen speak Bisitang; Siburan vicinity speak Biatah; Serian such as Tebekang,Mongkos,Tebedu near Tanjung Amo speak Bukar-Sadong; Padawan area speak Bi-anah,Pinyawa,Braang,Bia',Bisepu and empuruh/Bipuruh.

The location of Bidayuh ethnic

"Bidayuh" ethnic villagers mostly can be found in the rural area of Lundu,Bau,Serian,Padawan,Penrissen and Serian distric. This ethnic mostly live in basin Sarawak River and hilly to the mountanious forest.Nowdays most of the traditional longhouse village have been replace by the individual houses.Their daily rutin work plant "paddies" along the hill and thay also plant other friuts.Friut tree especially durian,remain as a important property makers.

BIDAYUH CULTURAL IN SARAWAK







"Bidayuh" is the collective name for the several indigenouse group that are found in Sarawak on the iasland of Borneo.The "Bidayuh" means "inhabitans of land".Occasionally from the westren part of the Bornoe,the collective name Land Dayak was first used during the period of Rajah Brooke,the White Rajah of Sarawak.They constitute one of the main indigenouse group in Sarawak and live in town and village in Kuching and Samarahan.In Sarawak most population are found within 40 km goegraphical area known as greater Kuching within Kuching and Samarahan division.Bidayuh ethnic group are the second larges aftre the Iban.
